Work directly with animals at Windmill Animal Rescue!
Volunteers give attention to, groom, clean cages/litter boxes for, feed, and/or medicate 70+ cats and other animals. Time commitment: 1 time/week for 2-3 hours or 1 time/month for 3-4 hours. We are willing to work with your schedule on this but need a steady commitment, as there is some time required for training.
Laundry! Time commitment: 1 time/week for 2-3 loads of laundry (sometimes more) such as towels, blankets and rugs. It would be great to have two or three people to share this job.

Grant Writers/Fund Raisers
Organizations such as ours are always in need of funds. If you have experience or interest in Grant Writing or Fund Raising, the animals would greatly appreciate your dedicated assistance.
Event Coordinators and Assistants
Volunteer to help get ready four and/or during the annual spring rummage sale, photos with Mrs. Claus, and our new fundraiser coming this fall; a waffle breakfast. Time Commitment depends on your schedule. Your help is needed, even if you can only spare one or two hours!
Newsletter Folding
Help fold the newsletters, put labels on, and seal them to prepare them for mailing. Time Commitment: newsletters will come out twice a year, once in April or May and once in September or October. Time will depend on how many people volunteer.
Foster Homes
Volunteers are much needed to become foster "parents" for animals, primarily cats and dogs while they wait for new homes. You would house the animal(s) until a home can be found. It would be appreciated but not necessary for you to become actively involved in the placement of your foster animal(s). All medical expenses and food can be provided for your foster. The greatest need for fosters is in the spring; foster a mother cat and her kittens until they are ready to separate.
Help the Animals Find Homes
Help the animals at Windmill Animal Rescue by:
Obtaining free advertising for the shelter, contact local newspapers and organizations and ask them for free advertising and support
Contacting local high schools, churches and volunteer organizations to find people willing to help with the constant cleaning, feeding, and caring for the animals
Collecting animal profiles and pictures that will be uploaded to several websites. You need a digital camera and access to the Internet. You would go to the Windmill, fill out a form about a few of the cats available for adoption or sponsorship and take pictures of each cat. You would give the profiles and pictures to our coordinator or add them to Windmill Animal Rescue's website and some other websites that allow free posting for pets needing adoption.
